OVERVIEW: Tri-M is the international honor society recognizing secondary music students for their musical ability, academic excellence, school involvement, and community service. It is designed to recognize students for their academic and musical achievements, reward them for their accomplishments and service activities, and to inspire other students to excel at music and leadership.
REQUIREMENTS: Students must maintain an A average in performing arts classes and an B average in all classes (subject to evaluation on a semesterly basis). Students must be either a sophomore, junior, or senior enrolled in a performing arts class (Chorus, Orchestra, Band, or Music Technology) at Mill Creek High School for the 2009-2010 school year.
Students are also required to perform at one (1) recital per year. Students must attend all but two of the general meetings throughout the school year. Finally, students will be required to attain a minimum of six service hours in a verifiable performance-oriented service opportunity. Hours are due by the end of the year but may be submitted well beforehand at the member's convenience.
If any requirement is not met, a member will be subject to dismissal from the honor society. Furthermore, seniors who are dismissed will not be able to attain honor cords or any other Tri-M recognition material.
