Georgia High School Writing Test

10/3/12 - GHSWT Main Administration - All Juniors must take this test to graduate from high school.  Passing this test is imperative to graduation.

Georgia High School Graduation Test Social Studies Breakdown

For the social studies portion of the Georgia High School Graduation Test, 18% of the test comes from American Government/Civics, with a small portion typically learned in middle school and the majority learned in grade 11; 26% of the test comes from United States History to 1865, usually learned in the 11th grade; 25% of the test is related to United States History since 1865, information which is also gleaned in grade 11; 13% of the test is taken from World Geography, a 9th grade course; and 18% of the test comes from a 10th grade course called World History (GHSGT, 2007)

Attendance during high school is important for a student to pass the GHSGT.

For the typical student taking courses on time, the social studies portion breaks down to:

13% - 9th grade
18% - 10th grade
69% - 11th grade
