Gateway General Information
Summer Gateway Retest
The Gateway retest will be given at Mill Creek High School on Monday, June 11, 2012.
This retest is for upcoming 11th and 12th graders who have previously failed a portion of the Gateway, or who have never taken it.
The times are as follows:
Science 8:00 AM
Social Studies 1:00 PM
Students must arrive 30 minutes before the test to be checked-in. There is no late testing or make-ups for the summer session. If a student arrives late, they will not be allowed to take the test. There is no pre-registration. Students need to arrive 30 minutes before the test, in the Atrium to check-in.
The Gateway will also be given during the school year in October, January and April.

All students must take and pass the Gateway tests to graduate from a Gwinnett County high school
The Gateway Assessment was developed for the purpose of measuring and reporting student progress on the Gwinnett County core curriculum - the Academic Knowledge and Skills. Students take this test for the first time in the spring of their sophomore year. The content areas covered on this test include language arts, science and social studies.
The format of this test is ESSAY. The Gateway Assessment measures students' ability to write effectively about 9th and 10th grade science (Biology and Chemistry) and social studies (World History), and the Language Arts AKS.
All students must demonstrate knowledge of the Gwinnett County Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum. All students must pass the Gwinnett County High School Gateway Assessment before earning a diploma.
Intervention classes will be provided, during Academic Contact Time, to help students who do not pass this assessment.
Students will have several opportunities to retake the assessment if they are not successful the first time.

GATEWAY Intervention
Intervention for the GATEWAY test will occur during "ACT" (Academic Contact Time). Students will be notified of the intervention class and will be expected to attend. If they choose not to show, they will be reported as AWOL to the attendance office.
