2013-2014 OFFICER APPLICATION:

Interested in becoming an officer or ambassador of L.A.S.O. for the 2013-2014 school year?  Complete the officer application below along with 2 teacher recommendations by Tuesday, April 16 and turn in to Ms. Campos in room 1.552.  Be prepared to share why you are the best candidate for the position at our next meeting on Wednesday, April 17. 

ATTENTION SENIORS...

If you have completed 40 hours of service in the Mill Creek community during the 2012-2013 school year in an effort to earn a cord to wear at graduation, please give a copy of your completed and signed service hour log tp Ms. Campos by 3:00 PM Tues., Apr. 16.

Guidelines to earn a service cord:

-Graduating senior
-40 hours or more of community service completed between May 1, 2012 and April 16, 2013
-Log turned in to Ms. Campos by Tues., Apr. 16

Service night is May 9, 2013. Students, receiving a cord, need to be in the band hallway by 6:30.

Latin American Student Organization (L.A.S.O.)

The purpose of our group is to:

-Bring together students who are interested in learning more about Latin American culture.
-Sponsor cultural, academic, and social activities that will increase awareness of Latino heritage on this campus.
-Promote leadership, scholarship, and service among Latino students.

Membership is open to any student who is interested in the cultures of Latin America.

Dues are $20.00 per academic year.

Generally meetings will be held on the 1st Wednesday of each month in room 1.552 from 2:20 - 3:00 PM.

Special meetings may be called by the club Sponsor or President with the approval of the Executive Committee.

One of our most important activities is the planning of events during Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15-October 15.

We also distribute information about Hispanic Scholarship and Leadership opportunities, including:

- the Latino Youth Leadership Conference held in November

- the Hispanic Scholarship Fund's town hall meeting held in October

- the College Career Fair held in November

- the UGA Leadership sin limites conference held in July

We also participate in community service projects such as collecting Christmas gifts for a needy family sponsored by the Latin American Association.
